Tamarack Farm Apprenticeship Options

While all Tamarack Farmers (TFers) are involved with the everyday chores of running our farm, cooking our food, and building our construction projects and trails; there are several opportunities available for TFers to build mastery in one particular area. The apprenticeships are designed for engaged, youth-driven, fun, hands-on learning, and exploration. While there is plenty of work our teens do in the mornings, the apprenticeships aren’t necessarily work-based, however, they will gain competency in a skill area.

This summer all TFers will choose an apprenticeship from our 2019 options at the beginning of their time here.  They will meet with an instructor and small group in their apprenticeship of choice at least 2 afternoons per week.

Each summer, we attract amazing staff with a wide variety of skills and the apprenticeships could vary, but the following is a list of options we have available every summer based on the structure of our programming and strength of our year-round staff.

Full Season Apprentice Options:

There are a few apprenticeships that will be project-based and require the full summer.  Full season Tamarack Farmers will also have the option of picking two half-season options if they prefer (see below for half season options).

Half Season Apprentice Options:

The half seasons options offer a chance to dive in deeper on desired skills and learn experientially within a small group.
