Salad Bowl Game
By: Michelle Golden

At home with 4 people or more? It’s the perfect time to play Salad Bowl!

The game is played in teams and the goal is to get the most points (or to end in a Quaker tie!)

1. Each participant writes the name of someone “famous” on slips of paper. Each participant writes at least 5 — the more names, the longer the game. They can be a person from history, politics, music, pop culture, cartoons, fiction, etc. It could even be family or friends. You determine the rules.

2. Split your group into 2 teams.

3. Round

  • A person from the group picks a slip of paper and tries to get folks in their group to guess who it is without using the name. Once the person is guessed by their team, they pick another slip and try again. The goal here is to get as many correct as possible in 1 minute. Keep correctly answered names nearby, but don’t put them back in the salad bowl.
  • Once the minute ends, the next team does the same — guessing names for 1 minute, then recording the number they got correct.
  • Continue rotating teams, taking turns to have everyone give clues and guess.
  • Round 1 ends when all the names are correctly guessed.

4. Round 2

  • Put all the names back in the salad bowl.
  • Round 2 proceeds like round 1, but the clue giver is only allowed to use 3 words!
  • Round 2 ends when all the names are correctly guessed.

5. Round 3

  • Put all the names back in the salad bowl.
  • Round 3 proceeds like rounds 1 and 2, but the clue giver can not use any words.
  • Round 3 ends when all the names are correctly guessed.

6. Game over, tally up the score!

We would love for you to share some of your more outrageous clues with us. Send your photos or clues to us on social media or through e-mail. You can also keep them in your mind for when you play the game at camp!
