The Farm & Wilderness Executive Director is an important person. They oversee our summer camps and year-round operations, make big decisions about things like going solar and starting new camp programs, and in their spare time dig out kybos and chase runaway goats. The job grew even bigger under our current ED Rebecca Geary, who added conserving and educating about our lakes and lands to her responsibilities when F&W affiliated with the Ninevah Foundation and she became the executive director of both organizations.
This spring, we say goodbye to Rebecca with great appreciation for her six years of hard work and accomplishment at F&W and the Ninevah Foundation, sadness at her departure, and excitement about her new horizons as she returns to her Washington DC-area roots to become the Head of the Green Acres School in North Bethesda. We have engaged the search firm On-Ramps to help us find our seventh (!) executive director. As I write this, On-Ramps is finishing up the first round of interviews. They have identified some fantastic candidates who the staff and board will be meeting over the next several weeks. We look forward to introducing our new ED to the community this summer.
To tide us over from Rebecca’s departure until the arrival of her successor, Jay Kullman has agreed to serve as our interim Executive Director starting March 1st. Many of you already know Jay, our Director of Sustainable Resources. He and his talented staff keep the water running in our spigots, make sure our roofs don’t leak, help campers build Art Barns and kybos, fix the flat tires on our vans, eliminate invasive species in our forests and lakes, construct shelters, and do whatever else is needed to take the best possible care of the Plymouth Valley, Lake Ninevah, and our camps. Jay is already a member of our Leadership Team, serves on many board and staff committees, and was an integral participant in the Ninevah Foundation affiliation, so he is ready to hit the ground running.
I hope you will join me in thanking Rebecca and welcoming Jay.
In peace,
Becca Steinitz
