Over the past week we’ve begun to settle into our home on the mountaintop meadow, new and old campers alike have discovered and rediscovered all of the magical wonders that this place has to offer. Campers have been working on their fire and shelter building skills in preparation for solos coming up and have also been perfecting their spoons, weaving friendship bracelets, sewing wool vests, and learning about the diverse collection of edible and medicinal plants found all over the site, including sarsaparilla root, which is currently being steeped for a tasty tea!
When they weren’t exploring the land and building technical skills, campers were adventuring deep into their imaginations, scheming up clever inter-camp pranks (yet to be revealed), building an entire miniature Fairy world in the blueberry field, known as Spruce Hollow, and creating myths and stories that illustrate the values and life of Red Spruce Grove dwellers during our first ever “Lore Night.” The Grovers played a suspenseful game of soccer with Flying Cloud campers while waiting for dinner at the Honoring Ceremony, which was an event enjoyed by all. Today we begin our first of many blueberry harvest days for our famous RSG Wild Blueberry Jam, which will be offered at Fair!
