Campers settled into their beautiful clearing at Red Spruce Grove last Monday. The heat had been intense everywhere, but a steady breeze from the south kept it cooler at RSG. Tuesday morning, some campers had an introductory archery lesson while others worked on carving spoons. Everyone at RSG makes their own utensils!
At the three bell, the whole group gathered around the firepit for announcements. While the cook crew made lunch, others took some quiet time to write letters. The cooks decided it was too hot for a fire, so they prepared a cold lunch with fresh coleslaw and a bagel sandwich bar. Everyone circled up and sang a grace about sandwiches. As they ate, the campers got into a fierce discussion about stereotypes in Disney movies. Then everyone cleaned up, sterilized their dishes and packed out for a day hike down to the mountain to Lake Ninevah. Some campers swam while others played games in the shade by the water, then there was a chance to take showers and mail letters before everyone hiked back up the hill to home.
More soon!
