It’s often hard to explain why Tamarack Farm is such a powerful experience for teens. However, if you showed up for our tiger box reading after dinner, I think you’d begin to get the idea. Once the tables have been cleared from dinner, our whole community gathers on the hill. After a time for announcements, the town criers (teen leaders of the day) opens the back of our tiger box and shake scraps of paper onto a blanket. Throughout the day, little notes of appreciation are collected in this orange and black box. The Town Criers read the appreciations aloud to members of the Tamarack Farm community gathered in the shade of our big maple on the hill.
Thanks making farm chores fun!Thank you cooking staff for your hard work! The food is so gooooooood! You’re a great leader in our community in ways big + small everyday <3Ruby is so positive and makes me feel like it’s sunny outsideYou destroyed the dishes and made is look so easy <3
The appreciations reflect all that we’re doing here together, from helping someone with chores, being a listening ear, creating amazing art, working hard on a trail clearing project, or in the garden.
It’s transformative for us all as we realize we’re seen, valued, and that we have an impact on those around us.
