Excited campers arrived on Wednesday! Some were bold enough to head into the water right away for their swim checks, while others joined our three bunnies (Peppermint, Hairy, & Agnus) at the barn. Cabins participate in conversations about how to be in a community over S’mores the first night. The rain offered the opportunity to practice wet weather fire making skills.
In the morning, Lodge groups shared what they are looking forward to this summer: Apprenticeships, Trips, Animals, Interdependence Day Singing, Pranks, & Axeing.
Some things are comfortably the same and some things have shifted according to feedback about community needs:
- Providing nutritious snacks throughout the day at the kitchen window
- Adding some additional time in the morning activity rotation for Big Lodge to practice canoeing skills at the waterfront
- Including Interdependence Day song planning into the Inclusivity & Equity programming
- And more…
We’ve also been enjoying three meals that have been “family style” within the cabin communities and one “buffet.” So far, our meals have including everything from chocolate chip muffins to taco stations!
It’s been incredible to see our new and returning Senior Lodgers jump into leadership at camp demonstrating competence and enthusiasm for chores already.
To top off a wonderful day, the whole camp played a rowdy Gaga tournament. It was special to see all the lodges no matter what ages playing together and cheering each other on. The sports equipment bin was empty and scattered across the lawn – Games Galore!
