Someday ... - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Pam Podger | August 02, 2014

We out did ourselves this summer at the Indian Brook holiday, Someday! The ‘typical’ schedule of the day gets turned inside out and flipped upside down.  The staff creates a magical experience where anything can happen.

Campers were woken up by staff bringing them pumpkin muffins to eat breakfast in bed.  Instead of Silent Meeting, we had a dance party.

We made our way to the apple orchard for various wacky options: Psychic readings in the back of the truck, a demolition derby, quidditch games, party in the van, gaga game, lounge party with a couch in the garden, face painting, and gymnastics routines.

With a guest list of 200 people, we witnessed the union the two IB goats, Ebony and Cotton. Goat Vows:

Cotton: “I promise to never eat the dandelion that you want to eat. I promise to never get jealous if you’re getting more love and attention from campers than I am.  I promise to hang out with you every day for as long as we’re together at Farm & Wilderness.”

Ebony: “I promise to never head butt you when you’re sleeping.  I promise to share all the best grass spots with you. I promise to be your goat friend rain or shine no matter what pasture we’re in.”

Then we did a road Olympics where campers did various activities such as a low ropes course, tug of war, relay races, ski jump, noodle javelin.  The road Olympics culminated with campers enjoying a lunch of pizza delivered from our local pizzeria.  Then we marched back to Indian Brook, singing songs to each camp along the way.

Everyone was so tired that we decided to have a large slumber party on the lawn.  When everyone was feeling rested, we started our afternoon activities which included; a pudding drop, as lip and slide, a bubble bath in Clifford the Big Red Truck, the egg drop challenge, sock wrestling in the mud pit, swimming in the giant silver kitchen bowl, rescue board/raft making at the waterfront, and lemonade stand skit trading for songs.

Then we had an amazing “food court” meal; Natalie’s famous, General Girls Chicken, Dunkin Nonuts, Auntie Franz Pretzels, and Fairy Queen. To finish off our unusual and creative day, we watched a movie on a big screen. What a magical day!
