What’s been happening? Here at Indian Brook we have been all about creating our own fun this past week!
The Un-birthday celebration included eating cake without utensils or using our hands.
Senior Lodge came back from their trips and shared songs and skits to represent their successes. The two hiking trips walked 48 miles total while all of the trips consumed about 30 pounds of Granola in their GORP!
Adventure Day brought off-camp and in-camp trips to nearby hills, mountains, and waterfalls.
The silence at breakfast was broken with poems, appreciation for the food on our plates, a few piano tunes, and a bright violin song.
Campers are milking goats, which then the pigs (Grub and Rudy) fight over. IB gets about one gallon of goat milk (from Cotton and Elfie) and five gallons of cow’s milk (from Hibiscus) each day! Each morning we take our cow milk from our barn to the Tamarck Farm pasteurizing room where Timberlake and Tamarack Farm camps also contribute to our milk supply.
We took part in a community discussion about gender stereotypes and talked about how we can make Indian Brook a place where everyone feels comfortable with who they are.
The sweet potato coconut leek soup was the biggest hit for dinner this week. Other favorites were the plantains and Picadillo (Cuban Beef Dish) and farm milk and chili and kale salad and scones and traditional fried rice made in a huge wok…there has been endless food!
We have one week left of this session so needless to say we are getting ready to celebrate our time with affirmations and grand circuit swimming!
