Campers are out Exploring - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Amy Bowen | July 15, 2014

This week we sent all 65 campers out of camp on trips. It’s very quiet here on campus as we are completing a “deep clean” of camp. We’re really excited about the experiences our teens have while out of camp. This year we offered two canoeing trips: One is paddling down the Androscoggin River and enjoying some white water.

The other trip is out paddling on flatter water in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. There are two groups out hiking: One in the Green Mountains of Vermont and one in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Two “service trips” left camp this week as well: one focusing on art as activism at Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover, VT. The other one is engaging with food production in Vermont (visiting and working on both a “conventional” dairy and a “grass farm” dairy as well as Migrant Justice of Vermont—they will be analyzing the impacts of different food systems on the planet, people, and local economies).

I’m looking forward to having them all back to hear the stories.
