The Farm & Wilderness Foundation has hired Rebecca Thomas Geary as its Executive Director. Ms. Geary, currently with Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (BB&N) in Cambridge, Mass., joined F&W in May, 2014. She is F&W’s sixth Executive Director since it became a nonprofit organization nearly 40 years ago.

Ms. Geary brings a wealth of experience as a teacher, school administrator, camp professional and corporate executive. At BB&N, she has been the Assistant Director of Studies, the Interim Co-Director and most recently the Associate Director of Admissions. Previously, she was a Spanish teacher for 6th-8th graders at the Oak Bluffs School in Oak Bluffs, Mass., and a volunteer Spanish teacher at Montessori schools on Martha’s Vineyard, where she also directed an internationally themed summer day camp.  She has a Master’s in Education from Lesley University.

Serving as F&W’s new Executive Director is an “opportunity (that) brings together many of my passions – developing and educating children, celebrating the outdoors and strengthening an organization,” Ms. Geary said. ”F&W has changed so many lives – I look forward to being a part of that.”

Pieter Bohen, whom she succeeds and who is now F&W’s President, said: “Rebecca’s educational and professional focus on multicultural education is a wonderful match for F&W as we continue to celebrate the cultural diversity of our community. F&W is now a thriving organization and I fully expect that we will be even stronger under Rebecca’s leadership.”

Farm & Wilderness Foundation is a non-profit, educational organization operating six summer camps  for children and young adults, an organic farm and a family camp. Set on a beautiful 1,600-acre campus in the Green Mountains of Vermont, F&W programs are rich in adventure, community, history and spirit and foster an individual relationship with the natural world.  While each camp provides unique programs based on age and interests, all F&W activities are shaped by Quaker principles and the belief that individuals and communities are strengthened by service, integrity, community, equity and simplicity.
