Farewell After A Fabulous Summer! - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Pam Podger | August 09, 2013

So, here’s the story of the summer of 2013…  wait for it…. Keep waiting for it…

OK, you’re right, if you compare my blogging from last summer or even first half you’ll know there is a lot more to share.

It will come.   Here are some of the great things I look forward to telling you about:

  • Spy Night.  #Bestcampgameever.  Played at night, with clever hidden messages revealed at the end of the evening.
  • Guy Night & Anti-Bias Night.  Not at all like Spy Night.  Two evenings to make our community a more welcoming and diverse place.
  • Senior Lodge Trips:  “You can’t always get what you want, but if hike for miles, in single file… you get what you need.”
  • Big and First Lodge Hikes:  Some First Lodgers hiked more than Senior Lodgers!
  • Ratings – Long distance swims, canoeing , arts, etc.
  • Adventure Auctions:  Brilliant creative programming – hunting for ingredients for a banquet, exploring ice caves, waterfalls, and much more!
  • The Cardboard Carnival – all camper-created arcade games.
  • “The Camp Game” A new All-Camp Game involving cabin’s working off their strengths and accepting challenges.
  • The New Ziggeraut Steps project.
  • The wooden Kelp Garden mural for the side of First Lodge Showers
  • Banquet – the theme is Timberlake in an alternate “Steampunk” universe .
  • Harvest meal – a six-course menu including our own chickens

I know many of you have been looking for pictures of your son and you may or may not be interested in photos of activities or camp projects.  While we don’t attempt to offer ongoing pictures of campers, the good news is that in September, when you have your son back at home, there will be opportunities to re-visit the camp experience together through the Timberlake Summer Camp Facebook  page. After camp has finished strong and we’ve collected and organized  all camp photos from all staff cameras we will organize them into themed albums. These will be posted on the Timberlake Facebook page with handy captions that explain what you are seeing.  I will also write more about each of these items in bold above and include it with the cabin photos in the Timberlake Thunderbird that I send in the Fall.

I will miss camp and living in the moment and having such full days, and I also look forward to sharing and re-living it with you over the coming months.

Best,

Tulio
