A brief reminder about what makes us special as a camp.
We are a camp about getting back to the land, learning to live off the land. GROW our own food, RAISE our own animals, BUILD our homes, swim miles around the lake, GRIP the rock when bouldering and GLIDE across the lake in a canoe. We ENTERTAIN OURSELVES by playing games with a hundred players, by doing mad skits and BE ourselves by exploding stereotypes about boys and men, race and class. Yes, we know how to be still and LISTEN, but we are almost always in MOTION. We move across the land, carrying what we need on our backs. We learn to use FIRE and find WATER. We trade pencils and keyboards for axes, hammers and saws.
The whole time, we are practicing and improving not only our WORK ethic but also our CREATIVITY ethic and our EMPATHY ethic. Yes, we work hard and LOVE it, but we are no grim stoics of the past but young, open-hearted men of the future, who know have found our voice, know how to listen to others and to ourselves.
THIS is our CAMP.
THIS is TIMBERLAKE.
WE make it.
