Everything must come to an end, and I think we all find it a bit unreal and difficult to depart from the home we have made here. Yet we had a day of Harvesting, followed by our feast of food from our garden (and our chickens). From there it was straight into Banquet. The theme this year tested our culture competency with reading signals others send before boarding the ship of alien civilization via a working drawbridge. It turns out those aliens liked to dance! It became an unforgettable party. And the menu included: chicken wings, fresh baked homemade bread with a stew using F&W raised beef, salad, fruit plate, pulled pork, sweet potatoes, grilled asparagus, fresh corn, fresh strawberries and cream and more!
Celebrations continued the next day as we helped with the Farm and Wilderness Fair. Kudos to all who got a pie in the face for a good cause! That evening we had our closing ceremonies and all woke to our final morning of camp with a mixture of satisfaction of a summer went spent and sadness to be leaving friends.
