The Things Money Can't Buy - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Kory Mathis | July 10, 2009

I haven’t spoken at Silent Meeting yet, but today I was reminded  how our simple life at Timberlake allows us to shed the need to buy things just to make ourselves feel better. We are all aware of just how inviting it is to offset a disappointment or celebrate a success by getting ourselves a “well deserved” treat. Yet here at camp we find that invitation less beckoning, and the sense of belonging and acceptance fills us up, cushions our losses and cheers our triumphs.

Today in meeting I felt moved to note that there’s is an limitless abundance of acceptance and support to be had at camp, and everyone should be encouraged to shop fearless and get as much as they want of it. Goodwill is our local currency, everyone can spend recklessly…it’s good for our economy.
