Full-price tuition for a 3-week session of overnight camp is $7,200. Please note that the 2 or 3 children amount is for families who have registered that number of their own dependent children at a Farm & Wilderness overnight camp program in the same summer, though they may attend different programs and/or sessions. Please reach out to us for any clarification!

Use the chart below to determine the range of your expected family contribution, once you've completed our campership form and financial aid is applied.

2024 Family Contribution Charts (Day Camp)

Deposits, Payment, and Cancellation Policies:

  • Before June 1, a $500 deposit per session, per camper for overnight camp or $100 per camper, per session of day camp is required upon registration.
    • We understand the deposit payment can be a large amount of money at one time. Please let us know if you’d like to set up a payment plan for your deposit by reaching out to admissions@farmandwilderness.org and we will work with you to create a payment plan that works for your family’s finances.
  • After June 1, full tuition is expected upon registration. Families registering after this date will work with admissions on a timeline for their financial aid process, if requested.
  • Deposits are non-refundable, unless you are a campership applicant, and even then some restrictions apply. Please reach out with questions!
  • Unpaid balances for any and all family members must be reconciled in order for a camper to maintain an upcoming registration.
  • It is not possible to make any tuition reduction or refund for arriving late or leaving early.
  • Payment is in U.S. currency, payable by check, e-check/ACH, credit card, or wire transfer.
    • Consider paying via a check in the mail, or by entering bank details in your CampDoc account, as this helps keep our processing fees down!

Cancellations & Refunds:

  • Registration cancellations made before March 1st are eligible for a tuition refund less the $500 non-refundable deposit.
  • Families are responsible for the full amount of tuition if a cancellation is made after March 1st, as we have already begun to plan for camper arrival! Requests for refunds made after this date will be determined on a case by case basis for cases such as severe illness, injury, family emergency, and may include resolutions such as partial refunds or a rollover of funds to next summer.
    • During registration and for a period of time before the session start date, families have the option of adding on a third-party trip insurance plan to their camper's registration. This additional trip insurance is intended to cover unforeseen circumstances that would require a family to suddenly need to alter their plans for their camper to attend camp. Coverages may vary and not all coverage is available in all jurisdictions. Insurance coverages are subject to the terms, limitations and exclusions in the plan, including an exclusion for pre-existing conditions. Please visit https://www.campdoc.com/protection-plan/ to read the description of coverage and learn more about what the plan does and does not cover before purchasing.
  • Campership families are notified within one month (or sooner!) of completion of their camper's health profile (Doctor Exam form not due until June 1), including the campership form and uploaded documentation, and then have two weeks from that award notification to accept the award or withdraw their registration and receive a refund of their deposit.
  • There will be no refund if a camper is asked to leave during the session for an infraction of a camp rule, for disruptive behavior, or if a camper is voluntarily withdrawn.

Affordable for All: Financial Aid for Campers

We believe that how and when we talk about financial support to families is critical for F&W to be the welcoming and inclusive community we strive to be.  So, we are sharing more information about what a family can expect to pay for their children to attend camp—right up front and based on their annual income.

Our camps and others like it are financially out of reach for many families--we know that. While we are always looking for ways to keep our expenses down, the fact is operating camps like ours is an expensive proposition.

At Farm & Wilderness diversity has been a matter of fact since our founding. Ken and Susan Webb, who opened Timberlake camp in 1939, sought to have our camps be inclusive and representative of the racial, ethnic and socio-economic diversity in our country.

Farm & Wilderness has a long history of making our camps accessible and affordable to all families, regardless of their socio-economic status through our Campership Program. This long-lived program is funded by our multi-generational community of alumni, camp families, and current and former staff who share our commitment to increasing access to our camps.

While there is no guarantee that F&W will be able to meet each family’s request for financial assistance, especially if their request is far outside the ranges in the above rate tables, we anticipate making over $800,000 in financial support in 2024, thanks to our generous community of donors. Our determinations are made based on each family’s financial situation and range from a few hundred dollars to the full cost of camp, less a deposit. This program is expansive beyond just tuition remission- our Affordable for All initiative provides funds to families to defray the total cost of camp—tuition, as well as gear and/or F&W’s scheduled transportation shuttles, typically from Boston and New York City for our overnight camps, and from Woodstock, VT for Barn Day Camp.

We strongly encourage any family interested in our camps to reach out to our Admissions team to learn more about our Campership Program. Since we've began publishing our transparency in tuition charts, as seen above, and folks are sharing this information with friends and family, we've increased the number of campership participants by 300% between 2021 and 2023, and are so glad to be adding so many campers and their families to our circle! In the same way we only have so many registration spots open for campers, so do we have a budgeted amount of Campership to apply for, so for both securing a spot and applying for campership, we encourage folks to register and complete their forms as soon as they're certain they'd like to have their child spend part of their summer with us at Farm & Wilderness. If this sentence is still here on our website, we're still taking applications for this upcoming summer.

In addition to offering tuition remission directly to camp families, we also partner with intermediary organizations such as the St Regis Mohawk Tribe Education Division (NY), 1199 SEIU Anne Shore Sleep-Away Camp Program (NYC), Vermont Migrant Education Program, and more! We actively seek new partnerships, and if you would like to recommend an organization to us, please contact admissions@farmandwilderness.org.

The Campership Process

How and when do I apply?
After you register your camper for this summer, you'll have a registration health profile to complete for your camper, which includes everything we need to know about them before we welcome them to camp and while we have them in our care, ending with a section on Campership. This section begins with asking if you would like to apply for campership. Select "Yes" and the form will appear for you to complete. If you need assistance with completing any part of your camper's profile, please do not hesitate to call or email admissions! The Campership application includes both questions about income as well as open ended narrative questions to best get a complete picture of a family's financial situation. The form does end with a section to upload income documentation, for most families this is a copy of their most recent tax return, and we can discuss alternative documentation paths as needed.

I have applied, now what?
Our Admissions team will submit your application to the Campership Review Committee for consideration.  First and foremost, the committee considers the family's financial situation in determining the amount of campership awarded, but the process includes both consideration of the numbers as well as the narrative portions families complete, so that we may consider the whole picture when determining campership amounts.

What happens after the committee makes determinations?
The Admissions Team will notify you of the outcome of your campership application by email. If you do not hear from us within one month of completing your campership application and registration health forms, please reach out to us to check in. If the award amount listed meets the needs of your family, please call or write to us within 2 weeks of receiving your award amount to accept. We will then apply the campership to your tuition balance. If the amount is not able to meet the needs of your family, you may decide to cancel your registration. If you must cancel, please call Admissions within that two week response period in order to receive a full refund of your deposit and any other payments you may have made towards the balance.

Things you should know about campership:
  • Campership amounts will be determined on a rolling basis, and the committee is scheduled to meet to review complete profiles bi-weekly. Please don't hesitate to apply, and make sure you complete your registration forms!
  • The campership application form appears during the registration process once you indicate you’d like to apply for financial aid. The application asks questions about the financial circumstances of all adults financially responsible for the camper and includes an upload of income verification. For most families, this is a copy of their most recent tax return. Please let us know if you need to submit alternative means of income verification and we will work with you towards a solution.
  • Campers on a waiting list or with incomplete registration forms in their camper's CampDoc Health profile will not be considered by the campership committee until registration is complete. All required sections and questions in the registration process along with a deposit are required to consider a camper fully registered for camp.
  • Families will be notified of award amounts within one month of completion of their camper's CampDoc Health profile, which includes the Campership application. The doctor completed physical exam form is not due until June 1, and campership applications can be considered before this form is returned. We will initially reach out via email to the camper's registration account primary user account email address. Families then have two weeks from that award notification to accept the award or withdraw registration. Deposits and any other funds paid towards tuition are entirely refundable within that two-week span, should a family need to withdraw their registration due to their award amount not meeting their needs. If the response is received after the two-week response period, the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Families with more than one camper will need to complete a separate Campership form for each camper. You may copy and paste answers from one of your camper's Campership form to another of your children's campership form.

For returning families: WELCOME BACK! We’re looking forward to seeing you again! You likely have already received an email or two about registration and how to access your online account with us. Please note: if that last time you were registered with us was 2019 or earlier, you will need to create a NEW online account with us through CampDoc. And of course, you can also always use that "Register" button on our website to get started!

2. Let's complete that registration!

Our registration is primarily online. All camp selections, registration forms, and tuition payments can be done through your online account with us. However, if you are unable to complete any part of the registration process, please do not hesitate to email or call us for assistance with non-online options.

Your registration is complete when:

  • You have selected a camp session for your camper
  • You have made a deposit payment.
    • Please reach out to us if you would like to set up a payment plan for this deposit.
  • All registration forms in the Health Profile are completed. This means all green checkmarks on the sidebar of Health Profile sections, no red or orange circles!
    • For returning campers, much of this is able to be reviewed and confirmed as still accurate, and updated as needed. It's incredible how much growth and change can happen in a year!
    • At any point, you can also reach out to us to update their information, because we know there's changes that can happen between registering for camp and arriving here!
    • Registration forms are expected to be completed within one week of registering your camper.
      • Even though summer might feel far away, we get to work reviewing information and preparing to welcome your children to our camps, so we may be in touch to ask more questions to ensure we do our best to set everyone up for success this summer!

Confirmation: You should receive a confirmation email once your online process is complete. If you do not see an email within 24 hours and have checked all of your inboxes (including junk mail), please call or email us and we will check on the status of your registration. It's important to confirm our emails are getting to you as early as possible so we know you're getting important updates as we prepare for camp!

3. You have completed your registration! Now what?

YAY! You are now registered for camp at Farm & Wilderness and we cannot wait till summer to see you! Until then, here are some things to keep in mind and ways to stay connected with us until camp begins.

  • We will put you on the email list for all summer announcements, updates, and need-to-know information to help you and your camper feel prepared to come to camp. Please be on the lookout for these email communications so that you can stay informed.
    • The email address we will use is the one you've designated for your camper's CampDoc account.
    • Let us know if you’d like us to add an additional email address to send these announcements to!
    • We will double check with the person who is the user on the CampDoc account before adding any additional users to notifications.
  • Payment in full is expected by June 1. Please refer to the section above on Campership to learn more about our Financial Aid process.
    • You may make payments of any amount at any time between the time of registration and the tuition deadline.
    • You can set up an automated payment plan through our registration system. If you need to set up a more customized plan, please send us an email or give us a call and we'll work on that with you!
    • Remember that if you are applying for Campership, we do need your camper's health profile to be completed. Campership amounts are determined every other week, so please reach out if it's been over a month since you completed your camper's profile and we can get on track together! Once we hear you've accepted the campership amount and your new adjusted expected family contribution, you'll see that new balance reflected in your CampDoc account.

  • Links with the most up to date Family Handbook and packing lists will be sent out by email prior to camp. Until those latest editions are ready, please browse last summer’s Family Handbook and packing lists on our family resource guide to get a sense of how to prepare for the summer.
