At Flying Cloud, we hire males meeting a minimum age requirements 18+ for cabin staff and activity support and 21+ for leadership and leadership support roles. Flying Cloud employees work with boys’ ages 11 to 14 build a strong community with our five core values: Simplicity and isolation, respect and community, common gender, honoring the land, and honoring the Spirit.

Flying Cloud Director
Zach grew up just outside of Washington, D.C. in Takoma Park, Maryland. Raised by parents who valued the environment and social justice, Zach found Farm & Wilderness to be a perfect fit when he first attended Timberlake in 2000. He spent three summers at Timberlake before transitioning to Tamarack Farm in 2003-04. After two summers at Tamarack Farm and a summer off, Zach returned to Farm & Wilderness in the summer of 2006 as a Lodge Staff at Flying Cloud. He spent two summers as a Lodge Staff, two summers as the Sensible Health Person and one summer as the Assistant Director before stepping into the role of Director at Flying Cloud in October, 2010. While spending his summers working at Flying Cloud, Zach received his bachelor's degree from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt. He graduated summa cum laude in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a concentration in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Production. He is passionate about connection with nature and community building and loves to share both with the campers and staff at Flying Cloud and Farm & Wilderness. Zach currently spends the rest of his year living close to the land in a canvas wall tent in Wallingford, VT. This is his way of staying off of the grid when he is not at Flying Cloud.  He is an EMT in Plymouth.
